Description
B Vitamins are essential nutrients that participate in thousands of metabolic reactions within the body. B vitamins are needed to convert dietary fuels, such as carbohydrates and fats into energy, and for the synthesis of important biochemicals such as steroid hormones and DNA.
Most vitamin supplements do not provide B vitamins in their active form. Instead, they use inactive precursors the body must first activate before the vitamins can become useful, Better Bâ„¢ is the next generation in B vitamin supplementation; it uses advanced, activated forms of B vitamins to achieve better nutritional results.
Better Bâ„¢ provides:
- Vitamin B2 as active riboflavin-5′-phosphate, instead of inactive riboflavin. Vitamin B2 is a metabolizing nutrient and participates in electron transport. Participates in fatty acid catabolism.
- Vitamin B6 as active pyridoxal-5′-phosphate, instead of inactive pyridoxine hydrochloride. B6 supports the production of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, and supports cardiovascular health.
- Folate as active 5-methyyltetrahydrofolate, instead of inactive folic acid. Folate is important for healthy DNA and for the synthesis of nucleic acids and neurotransmitters.
- Vitamin B12 as Methyl cobalamin, instead of inactive cyanocobalamin. B12 supports DNA replication and healthy nerve cell function.
Better Bâ„¢ also supplies additional important accessory nutrients such as: biotin, inositol and PABA (Para aminobenzoic acid), all which support B vitamin metabolism within the body.
Nutritional Support
B vitamins play a key role in all the systems within the body. Each member of the B-complex has a unique structure and performs unique functions in the human body.
Vitamins B1, B2, B3, and biotin participate in various aspects of energy production, vitamin B6 is essential for amino acid metabolism, and vitamin B12 and folic acid facilitate steps required for cell division.
Each of these vitamins has many additional functions, though none that require all B-complex vitamins simultaneously. Human requirements for each B vitamin vary from 3 mcg per day for vitamin B12 to 18 mg per day for vitamin B3 in adult males, for example.
So, taking equal amounts of each one as provided in many B-complex supplements makes little sense. Megadose of B-complex vitamins, sometimes taken to combat everyday stress, boost energy, or control food cravings, do not appear to offer benefit unless a person is deficient in one or more of them.
Most multivitamin-mineral products contain the B-complex along with the rest of the essential vitamins and minerals. Since they are more complete than B-complex vitamins alone, multiple vitamin-mineral supplements are recommended to improve overall micronutrient intake and prevent deficiencies.
